There is a telephone line in the house with two phones; one in the salon (by base of lamp in the photo above) and one in the downstairs bedroom - number (0)4.92.77.15.43 (use the "0" when in France; do not use it from abroad) which will receive calls from anywhere in the world but outgoing calls are restricted to the local area.
For calling outside the area, there are several pay phones in the hamlet that use the prepaid phone card available from Post Offices or "Tabacs" and there is a post office in the old village just a few steps away and a Tabac just steps from the house in the "Place" of the hamlet.
Or you can use a telephone credit calling card. It is a very handy system. We have been told by several renters that their own phone cards work from the phone in the house for long distance calls billed to their phone cards. But this will depend on your card.
The cost of telephone calls are NOT included in the price of the house and will be subtracted from the security deposit.
The telephone outlet downstairs is configured for laptop computers. If you have international or local ISP this is a logical choice. It is dial up and usually obtains a speed of 48,000.
